I have always been an anxious person, always concerned with what is coming up next. Over the past couple months I tried to live more in the moment, I have tried to “relax”. I’ve have been fairly successful in my attempt to be less concerned with what’s to come.
After being on the road for about 6 days I can tell you my outlook in life has started to shift. I am gradually less concerned with being on top of every situation. I am less worried about what time it is, what day it is, and how I can maximize the every single last resource.
That last one is interesting. Normally I would like to try to make the best out of every situation. How can I save the most and get the best hotel room? How can I avoid every even a 5 minute line? Instead I am gradually leaning towards: How can I get a good hotel room for a good price, no stress, no chase, just a quick search. How can I avoid 2 hour lines, just arrive a bit early and call it day.
That is another interesting phrase: “Call it a day”. Don’t worry so much, that’s my new motto. Pick the best option you have at hand and “call it a day”. Don’t stress over $5 or 15 minutes, make an easy choice and call it a day.
We stress about missing our flight, yet the probability of missing your flight versus making your flight is 85% to 15%.
We stress over something stolen out of your car, how often has that happened to you? Should you really stress that much about it?
Not everything in life can be predicted. You can’t prepare for everything, nor should you. Spontaneity is underrated, and should be more often cultivated.
I have realized life is about relaxing. A really good friend of mine always told me: “Relax, at the end everything works out” (obviously a common quote, but it meant a lot to me coming from him). This really is true.

Patience is something we all can afford to have more of. Traveling with a group sure teaches you some. I say this with much respect to my travel compadres. Making a decision by yourself can sometimes be difficult, add one person and it usually becomes twice as hard, add 2 more… you get the idea.
Just removing distractions does not help you achieve your goal. Once you remove all distractions you must add something and focus on it.
What is the now anyway? Since you are probably reading this is front of a computer, I am going to ask you stop and imagine…
