Before I embarked on this trip I spent a good amount of time reading blogs of other world nomads alike. Most of them at one time or another mentioned missing certain things from home. Anything from Kit-kat to cheeseburgers, to soda’s with ice. I don’t miss any of that. You can get all of that stuff all over the world these days.
I do miss friends and family. I miss the day to day interactions that I had before I departed. I miss having a kitchen to cook in, and a grill to barbecue.
As humans we tend to undervalue what we have, and overestimate the value of what we want. You know, “the grass is always greener on the other side” kind of thing. I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything but life on this earth will never be perfect. Relationships will never be perfect. We just have to remember to enjoy the beauty of each day, the value of the present and the wonderful hope of a better future.
