We are currently on a train from Madrid to Toulouse, France. Spain was incredible. I quickly fell in love with the south of the country.
Our last stop in Spain was Madrid. Last year we spend a couple days in Barcelona, one of my favorite cities of all time. Many people told me if I liked Barcelona I probably not enjoy Madrid, I kept and open mind. I do prefer Barcelona, but Madrid is just as charming. The food in Madrid was not bad, the prices were a bit high, for mostly everything compared to the south of Spain. We took one day-trip to Segovia (I wrote about Segovia a couple days ago) which was incredible.
Before Madrid we spent some time in the south of Spain, Granada, Seville and Cordoba. All three towns were much more affordable. Given that they are mostly small towns, I felt much more at home and quickly learned my way around. We also took advantage of the cheap drinks and food to indulge and enjoy the rich cousine.
Tomorrow we’ll arrive in the South of France, one of the most desirable vacation spots in the world. We’ll be meeting a good friend Jeison to spend a couple days with him in Toulouse. From Toulouse we’ll take a short train ride to Marseille where we’ll likely take day trips to Bourdeaux, Cassis, Nice, Nimês, Cannes and Monaco.
The whole experience is a bit surreal to me. Neither of us speak french, but I am sure we’ll do just fine.
