Yesterday I spent most of the day practice packing for the trip. We will be carrying our entire lives in our backpack. Packing is a difficult task. Spending a couple of months on the road requires a lot of stuff. Yet you have to take a lot less than you think you will need. Items quickly add up and the weight and bulk is an important factor to remember. I have heard from many people that you end up getting rid one third of the items you initially packed in the first few weeks.
I took pictures of everything for keepsake and insurance purposes. These items are pretty much all the stuff I will be taking on the trip around the world, with possibly a few minor changes in the upcoming 2 weeks (very likely some reduction).
Organizing all this stuff and packing for such a long trip is a pain, but necessary evil. In the next couple of posts I hope to provide some insight into the planning we have been doing.
Our trip will consist of 9 to 12 months backpacking around the world. I will be providing more information as to where we plan to start and which countries we plan to visit.
Please feel free to leave comments regarding any of these items, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
More info about the backpacking trip soon, stay tuned!
